Provide your SmartCoop system with a reliable measurement of outdoor brightness

The SmartCoop control unit is equipped with an integrated brightness sensor allowing for the automation of certain functions of the chicken coop.

However, when this unit is installed inside the chicken coop, the measured light does not always accurately reflect the outdoor brightness. The building walls, shadow, insulation, or even interior lighting can disrupt the measurements.

The SmartCoop Kerbl outdoor brightness sensor solves this issue by directly measuring the natural light outside the chicken coop.

Your SmartCoop system thus has much more precise information to automatically control the various equipment.

Why install an outdoor sensor?

When the control unit is placed inside the chicken coop, the integrated sensor may receive different brightness than what is actually present outside.

For example:

  • A highly insulated chicken coop remains dark even though the sun is already up;
  • A north-facing building receives less natural light;
  • Interior lighting may influence the measurement;
  • A small window limits the entry of light.

The outdoor sensor eliminates these differences by directly measuring the actual brightness.

More precise management of the automatic door

The sensor controls the automatic door based on daylight.

Opening and closing then correspond more closely to the natural behavior of poultry.

The door opens when the day has truly begun and closes when the brightness becomes insufficient.

The system thus avoids unsuitable openings or closings due to poor light measurement.

Intelligent lighting management

The brightness sensor also plays a role in the management of SmartCoop lighting.

By precisely knowing the outdoor brightness, the control unit can automatically adjust the operation of LED lamps to maintain a coherent light cycle.

This automation contributes to the comfort of the poultry while limiting the farmer's interventions.

Simple installation

The sensor comes with a 100 cm connection cable.

It connects directly to the SmartCoop control unit and replaces the integrated brightness sensor when it cannot correctly measure outdoor light.

Installation is quick and does not require any complex adjustments.

Exclusively compatible with SmartCoop

This sensor is designed only to work with the SmartCoop Kerbl system.

Warning:

It necessarily requires:

  • The SmartCoop Kerbl control unit (ref. 70600).

It cannot function autonomously.

When is this sensor recommended?

The outdoor sensor is particularly recommended when:

  • The SmartCoop unit is installed inside the chicken coop;
  • The chicken coop is not very bright;
  • The building is highly insulated;
  • The automatic door operates based on brightness;
  • You are also using the SmartCoop LED lighting.

In these situations, it significantly improves the accuracy of automations.

Main characteristics

  • Measures natural brightness outside the chicken coop
  • Replaces the integrated sensor when the unit is installed inside
  • Optimizes the operation of the automatic door
  • Improves the management of SmartCoop LED lighting
  • 100 cm connection cable
  • Simple and quick installation
  • Exclusively compatible with the SmartCoop system

Our opinion

We particularly recommend this sensor when the SmartCoop control unit is installed inside the chicken coop.

By directly measuring the natural outdoor light, it improves the accuracy of all light-related automations. The automatic door opens and closes at the right time, lighting is better managed and your SmartCoop system operates even more reliably.

This small accessory is often discreet, but it brings real added value for anyone wanting to fully exploit the performance of their autonomous chicken coop.
