Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin 18 hp Engine
This version is equipped with a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin 18 hp engine, providing more power for sustained work and dense vegetation.
The V-Twin design offers a smoother operation and a significant power reserve when the rotor encounters a substantial amount of vegetation.
The engine is equipped with an electric start, which is particularly convenient for frequent use.
The shredder also features a reinforced German-made clutch system, designed for efficient power transmission to the rotor.
What type of fuel to use?
The Briggs & Stratton Vanguard is a 4-stroke gasoline engine.
It runs on fresh unleaded gasoline. For regular use, we recommend opting for:
- SP95-E5 when available;
- Or SP98.
SP95-E10 may be compatible with many recent engines, but for a machine used seasonally, gasoline with less ethanol is generally preferable to limit fuel storage issues.
Never mix gasoline with oil: this is a 4-stroke engine, and the engine oil is contained separately in the crankcase.
Avoid using old fuel that has been stored for several months in a can or tank.
How to start the shredder?
The electric starter greatly facilitates starting.
Before each start, ensure that the shredder is properly attached, the towing vehicle is stationary, and the area around the rotor is clear.
The general procedure is as follows:
- Check the engine oil level.
- Check the fuel level.
- Open the fuel valve if the engine configuration has one.
- Set the throttle to the recommended starting position.
- When cold, activate the choke.
- Engage the electric starter.
- Once the engine starts, gradually disengage the choke.
- Allow the engine to run for a few moments before switching to work mode.
When the engine is already warm, the choke is generally not necessary.
The instructions provided with the engine take precedence for precise settings and starting procedures.
115 cm Cutting Width
With a working width of 1150 mm, the shredder allows for quick coverage of large areas while maintaining a width suitable for use behind an ATV or SSV.
This width is an excellent compromise for maintaining:
- Meadows and pastures;
- Orchards;
- Agricultural lands;
- Large properties;
- Paths and verges;
- Building surroundings;
- Grassed areas;
- Areas with tall or poorly maintained vegetation.
Adjustable Cutting Height from 0 to 120 mm
The working height can be adjusted between 0 and 120 mm.
This range allows the shredder to adapt to the terrain and vegetation.
For particularly tall or dense grass, it is advisable to start with a higher cutting height and a reduced forward speed. A second lower pass can then be performed to achieve a shorter finish.
Standard Manual Adjustment
In standard configuration, height adjustment is done manually using the crank located on the shredder.
This crank allows the machine to be raised or lowered to adapt its working position and facilitate its transport position.
It is a simple and robust mechanical system that requires no additional power.
Optional Electric Actuator Available
For users seeking more comfort, the shredder can be equipped with a 12 V electro-hydraulic actuator kit available as an option.
The actuator replaces the manual operation of the crank and allows for electric control of raising and lowering the machine.
This option is particularly interesting when:
- The shredder is used very regularly;
- Multiple plots need maintenance;
- Frequent changes between work and transport are required; The height must be adjusted regularly.
The system is powered by 12 V from the towing vehicle and has its own electric control.
Y Blades for Tall Grass
The mower is originally equipped with Y blades, particularly suitable for clearing and shredding dense vegetation.
The rapid rotation of the rotor allows the blades to cut and then fragment the grass before spreading the residues over the worked surface.
The Y blades are particularly suitable for:
- Tall grass;
- Pastures;
- Weeds;
- Dense vegetation;
- Poorly maintained land;
- Routine maintenance of green spaces.
Hammer blades can also be used to achieve different work and a more consistent finish.
Anti-Scalping Rear Roller
The anti-scalping rear roller follows the terrain variations and helps maintain a consistent cutting height.
It helps prevent the housing or cutting elements from suddenly hitting the ground when passing over a small irregularity.
It also contributes to the stability of the mower and the quality of the finish.
Centered or Laterally Offset Work
The mower can be positioned:
- Directly behind the towing vehicle;
- Or laterally in relation to the quad or SSV.
This offset is particularly useful for working along:
- Fences;
- Hedges;
- Road shoulders;
- Paths;
- Plot boundaries;
- Trees and other obstacles.
The vehicle can thus remain in a clear area while the mower works slightly to the side.
Working Speed from 2 to 10 km/h
The recommended advancement speed is between 2 and 10 km/h.
It must be adapted to the vegetation and the state of the terrain.
In dense or very tall vegetation, a reduced speed allows the rotor to perform more effective shredding. On a regularly maintained plot, the advancement speed can be higher.
Quick Transition to Transport Position
The mower is designed to facilitate movement from one work area to another.
Its transport position can be quickly set up to allow towing of the machine between different plots.
The large pneumatic wheels also help facilitate movement.
Pre-Assembled and Ready-to-Prepare Machine for Use
The mower is delivered pre-assembled and pre-oiled, minimizing the necessary operations before its first use.
It is packaged in a secure metal crate, designed to ensure its protection during transport.
Before first use, it is still essential to check all fixings, oil level, settings, and various safety elements.
