The Muscatrap Armosa is a fly trap in the form of a hanging bag, specially designed to massively capture flies present near livestock buildings, barns, stables, sheepfolds, chicken coops, or storage areas.

Easy to set up, it works with a Muscattract Dry water-soluble attractant that lures flies inside the bag. Once inside the trap, they can no longer escape.

This solution offers a major advantage for livestock farming: the Muscatrap works without insecticide. It thus helps reduce fly populations through trapping and is an excellent complement to a comprehensive strategy for controlling flying insects.

Up to 40,000 Flies Captured per Trap

Despite its relatively compact size, the Muscatrap has a very large capture capacity, capable of capturing up to 40,000 flies.

It is particularly useful during periods of high pressure when temperatures promote the rapid multiplication of fly populations around animals, manure, and organic matter.

The trap specifically targets the housefly (Musca domestica), which is particularly common in farming operations.

A Muscattract Dry Attractant Included

The Muscatrap comes with 4 sachets of 25 g Muscattract Dry, totaling 100 g of attractant.

This water-soluble attractant is specially formulated to lure flies to the trap.

Its composition is mainly based on:

  • D-fructose;
  • acetic acid.

When mixed with water, these components create a solution that is particularly attractive to flies. The insects are lured to the bag, enter through the openings provided for this purpose, and remain trapped inside.

An Insecticide-Free Trap

One of the great advantages of the Muscatrap is its insecticide-free operation.

The flies are not eliminated by contact with an insecticide substance; they are simply attracted and physically trapped inside the bag.

This method allows the Muscatrap to be integrated into a combined control strategy, complementing other solutions aimed at managing the different stages of fly development.

How to Prepare the Muscatrap?

The setup is simple and requires no special equipment.

To prepare the trap:

  1. Dilute the 4 sachets of 25 g attractant in about 800 ml of lukewarm water.
  2. Mix well to dissolve and distribute the attractant.
  3. Pour the prepared solution into the bag.
  4. Properly secure the lid.
  5. Hang the Muscatrap in a strategic area.

Once installed, the trap gradually begins to attract flies present in its environment.

Where to Install the Fly Bag?

Positioning plays an important role in the effectiveness of an attractive trap.

Armosa recommends hanging the Muscatrap at about 1.5 meters in height.

It is advisable to choose a location frequented by flies while avoiding placing the trap directly in areas of passage or work.

The Muscatrap can be used indoors and outdoors, around buildings.

It is particularly suitable for:

  • around barns;
  • near stables;
  • around sheep and goat pens;
  • near poultry houses and avian buildings;
  • close to manure areas;
  • around some agricultural premises;
  • in areas where fly populations are significant.

For outdoor installation, prefer a location sheltered from direct sunlight and wind.

Keep the Trap Away from Living Areas

As the Muscatrap is designed to attract flies, its location should be chosen wisely.

Do not attempt to place the trap right next to a door, patio, milking parlor, or any area where people and animals spend a lot of time.

The objective is to attract flies to a chosen trapping area, away from the spaces you wish to protect.

This rule is particularly important for effectively utilizing the product's attractive principle.

Multiple Traps for Large Operations

In a highly infested environment or around a large building, a single trap may not be enough.

It is preferable to distribute multiple Muscatraps around the main areas of fly development and circulation rather than concentrating all the traps in one place.

This method allows for the creation of multiple attraction points and intercepts more flies before they gather around the animals.

A Particularly Interesting Solution in Farming

Agricultural operations often combine several elements favorable to fly development: warmth, moisture, manure, bedding, food, and organic matter.

A significant infestation can quickly become a nuisance for both animals and people working in the building.

The Muscatrap allows for direct action on the adult flies present in the environment. For a more comprehensive fight, its use can be combined with good manure management, keeping bedding as dry as possible, and, when the situation requires, other methods of controlling larvae and adult flies. A practical disposable trap The Muscatrap has been designed as a disposable fly trap. The captured insects remain directly in the bag. When it is full or needs replacing, it is not necessary to individually empty the thousands of accumulated flies. This design greatly facilitates handling and allows for quick replacement of the trap with a new one. Muscatrap and Muscattract Dry The operation of the trap relies on the combination of two elements: The Muscatrap bag It provides the physical capture and storage of flies. The Muscattract Dry attractant Diluted in water, it generates the necessary attractiveness to bring flies to the trap. The Muscatrap is provided ready to be prepared with its 4 doses of 25 g attractant.
