Description
Liquid vegetable tar, obtained from high-quality beech wood. A traditional product for the care of hooves, claws, and feet in general.
In addition to its sanitizing effects, beech tar forms a true impermeable barrier. It protects the hoof, sole, and frog from excessive moisture, whether in pasture, a damp stall, or poorly drained bedding. This protective film prevents the softening of the hoof and thus preserves the strength of the foot. Its drying power limits maceration in the gaps of the frog and under the sole, helping to maintain a healthier environment less conducive to pathogens.
Finally, this product benefits from a long tradition of use: for generations, farriers and breeders have used it to strengthen the health of hooves and claws. This proven use, both in horses and cattle, testifies to the effectiveness and reliability of beech tar in the daily care of animals.
Properties & Benefits
- Antiseptic properties: it helps prevent bacterial infections that may occur in the frog or under the sole.
- Fungicidal properties: useful for treating or preventing fungi responsible for frog rot or other similar conditions.
- Waterproofing / protective action against moisture: in humid environments (pasture, stall, wet bedding), tar helps repel water, protecting the hoof, sole, and frog from softening or deterioration.
- Drying effect: promotes relative dryness in the gaps of the frog and under the sole, thus limiting maceration.
- Long tradition & proven use: this type of product has long been used in farriery, breeding, care of cattle, horses, etc.
Usage Instructions
- Soft, damp frog or showing signs of rot.
- Humid or muddy weather conditions: prolonged exposure to water, very greasy pastures, or poorly drained stalls.
- Cattle claws, fragile claws, horse or pony hooves that are particularly sensitive.
- Continuous protection during rainy seasons or very humid areas.
- Prevention: regular maintenance to keep the hoof healthy and prevent water or bacteria penetration.
Instructions for Use
- Pre-cleaning: clean the hoof/claw, remove all dirt, mud, bedding. Dry as much as possible.
- Application: with a suitable brush (ointment brush or paintbrush), apply a layer of tar on the sole, frog, cracks if necessary, and fragile parts. Be sure to cover the corners well.
- Frequency: depending on the condition — for a hoof in good condition exposed to moisture, once a week may be sufficient. If the hoof is already compromised, it can be applied 1 to 2 times a day until improvement.
- Maintenance: after application, monitor the condition: if the hoof remains wet or soft despite treatment, check drainage, environment, and possibly repeat the application.
